Some time off...

My final record for the NFL 2008-09 season is 57-36. If you were following my plays for the year and betting $100 each, you’d be up about $1,740 this season. If you bet $500 a game, you would be up $8,700. I post all my plays here for free every week.

I won the spread bet and the over/under on the Super Bowl. A few prop bets didn’t work out, but I was still up money going 4-3-1 overall for the game.

I’m taking the rest of the year off until the next football season. I usually bet baseball, but it’s a pain to post picks everyday. Vacations I take during the summer also interrupt the season.

So thanks for reading and remember me for next football season. Bookmark me now!

Have a great spring and summer!

NFL Football Sports Betting - Super Bowl XLIII - Pittsburgh Steelers vs Arizona Cardinals - Final Bets

This season my NFL record is 53-33. I already have 7 bets going for this year's Super Bowl, and I'm adding one more today.

Today's bet:
Pittsburgh Steelers/Arizona Cardinals OVER 46.5
The initial numbers suggest this game goes under, but if you weight recent history (the playoffs) a little more, I like the over in this game.

All other plays already bet are below. See past post for write ups. All prop bets were bet at BoDog.

- Arizona Cardinals +7 (-115) over Pittsburgh Steelers
- Total Receiving Yards - Willie Parker UNDER 1.5 (-115)
- Total Rushing Yards – Edgerrin James OVER 49.5 (+115)
- Total Receptions - Anquan Boldin OVER 5.5 (-135)
- Total Receiving Yards – Hines Ward OVER 69.5 (-105)
- Who will throw more interceptions in the game? Ben Roethlisberger (PIT) (+120)
- Will Barack Obama bring back US tradition and call winning team before broadcast goes off the air? YES (+165)

It's been a hell of a season. Good Luck tomorrow. I hope we both win money and have some fun... I'll be getting wasted.

NFL Football Sports Betting - Super Bowl XLIII - Pittsburgh Steelers vs Arizona Cardinals

This Super Bowl is a very tough game to handicap. It looks like Vegas made this line perfect. If it was a regular season game, I probably won’t bet it. My record is 53-33 on the rest of the season, and I already have 6 prop bets going on this game.

That said, it’s the freaking Super Bowl, so let’s try to find an edge.

It’s an odd match up and one that clearly favors the Steelers. The Steelers have a solid defense and a potent offense. Based on the Cards regular season play, this line is a little low. Arizona’s defense was middle of the road, they’re running game suffered, and the greatest weapon that this team had was the pass.

Pittsburgh was also challenged more during the regular season. They went 4-4 against teams that were 500 or better while the Cards went 2-6 against winning teams. Arizona also lost 4 of their last 6 heading into the playoffs.

But what Arizona has accomplished in the playoffs has been great. Their defense has been able to create turnovers, they have revitalized their running game, and their passing game has made Larry Fitzgerald and Kurt Warner household names.

In fact if you just handicap this Super Bowl based on these teams playoff performances, this line would favor the Cards. So based on these teams’ playoff performances, I'm betting:

Arizona Cardinals +7 (-115) over Pittsburgh Steelers

That’s the pick. Let’s root for the dog.

See my prop bets 1 and prop bets 2 post for some good Super Bowl props.

Good Luck

NFL Football Sports Betting - Super Bowl Prop Bets - Added Bet

Another Prop Bet I like from BoDog:

Total Receiving Yards - Willie Parker UNDER 1.5 (-115)
Parker only caught 3 passes all year, 2 of which were for negative yards. Get on this one.

See this post for 5 more Super Bowl prop bets. I'll be back with more bets tonight.

NFL Football Sports Betting - Super Bowl Prop Bets

I'm stilling waiting to pick a side on this game, but I've already bet a few props. These are all from BoDog. My 2008-09 season NFL record is 53-33.

Total Rushing Yards – Edgerrin James OVER 49.5 (+115)

I went over with him in the NFC Championship too. James is a veteran with experience. Expect Arizona to go to him before Hightower.

Total Receptions - Anquan Boldin OVER 5.5 (-135)

Pittsburgh will be more focused on Larry Fitzgerald as Arizona’s #1 receiver. Boldin also played 12 games this regular season and went over 5.5 receptions in 9 of them. Boldin should be healthy for this game, and he is a part of the offense that the Cards will use with 2 weeks to prepare.

Total Receiving Yards – Hines Ward OVER 69.5 (-105)

As long as he stays healthy, this Super Bowl MVP should go over 70 yards. He’s the Steelers #1 WR threat, and Big Ben will get him the ball.

Who will throw more interceptions in the game? Ben Roethlisberger (PIT) (+120)

Warner can be an interception machine, but I don’t see him turning it over much in the Super Bowl. Meanwhile, the Cards defense has been very good at pressuring the QB and getting picks through out the playoffs. I see this bet at a coin flip, so I’ll take the plus money on Big Ben.

Super Bowl XLIII - Will Barack Obama bring back US tradition and call winning team before broadcast goes off the air? YES (+165)

This president weighs in on the BCS. I think he’ll be calling the Super Bowl winners, and I'll bet it at plus money.

I'll be back later in the week with a side and maybe some more prop bets.

Good Luck.

NFL Football Sports Betting - Another Winning Weekend - Looking toward the Super Bowl

I just wanted to update this site after going 4-1 today! I think it would have been a solid 5-0 if Hines Ward didn't get injured. Anyway, it was another good day, and it now brings my season record to 53-33.

Now we have a full 2 weeks off until the Super Bowl. I'm really looking forward to the Arizona Cardinals/Pittsburgh Steelers game. I think it'll be a good one. The current line stands at:

Pittsburgh Steelers -6.5
Arizona Cardinals +6.5
Over/Under 47

I already have an early lean, but I'm in no rush to bet anything tonight. After all we still have 2 weeks to figure out the right bets.

It's really the prop bets that are the best thing about betting the Super Bowl. If you look at my plays today, I had 3 props going, and I expect to have more than 5 on the Super Bowl.

I'm not trying to a shill or anything, but if you don't have an account at BoDog, and you like betting Super Bowl props, you should open up an account with them this week. Every year they offer more prop bets than any other book, and some of them are real juicy. It's where I found the props that I bet today.

So, I'm happy with the way things played out today, and like most people, I'm really looking forward to the big game.

I hope your day was just as good as mine or better. Thanks for reading and good luck.

NFL Football Sports Betting - Baltimore Ravens at Pittsburgh Steelers

Well, yesterday I did a good size write-up on the Philadelphia Eagles at Arizona Cardinals game. Today I'm picking the Baltimore Ravens at Pittsburgh Steelers game, but don't expect as much analysis. I also have a few prop bets for today. My NFL season record is 49-32.

Pittsburgh Steelers -6 (-110) over Baltimore Ravens

The Steelers have a better defense, special teams, and pass game. I give the Ravens the edge in the run game, but the Steelers with Fast Willie Parker aren't far behind. Basically this game comes down to defense which is very close between the two teams, and offensive weapons, where the Ravens aren't even close to the Steelers. As long as the Steelers are clicking, this shouldn't be close.

Player Prop Bets for today:
Big Ben OV 202.5 passing yds -120
H. Ward OV 67.5 receiving yds -100
E. James OV 52.5 rushing yds -110

Good Luck

NFL Football Sports Betting - Philadelphia Eagles at Arizona Cardinals

Another good weekend for football and another great weekend to win some money. My 08-09 season NFL record is currently 49-32. This weekend's best bet -

Arizona Cardinals +4 (-110) over Philadelphia Eagles

Arizona is a home dog in the playoffs? Is this free money? The Eagles are on the road for the 3rd straight week, and they are coming off a very emotional win verse the Giants. Those are 3 big trends pointing against the Eagles this week: Road Favorite, Let down game and 3rd straight road game.

"But the Eagles killed the Cards Thanksgiving Day!" Yeah, everyone watched that game, and the public's perception has been figured into Sunday's line. That game is the reason why Arizona is not favored this weekend.

But lets take a look at the that game. It was in Philly. It was a short week. It was a West Coast team going East. It was the Cards first game after a rough loss to the defending Super Bowl Champions. Granted, Arizona got killed, but there are a lot factors that are different this time around.

The Cardinals are now playing well and running well. This team had only 10 rushing attempts the last time they met Philly. Even fewer two weeks later vs Minnesota this year, but they have now ran the ball 114 times over their last 3 games. This more balanced attack brings a different dynamic to this team's offense that the Eagles didn't face the first time around.

Arizona's defense has also shown much improvement in the playoffs. This middle of the road defense during the regular season, has forced 9 turnovers in their 2 playoff games. Turnovers win games.

As I mentioned before, discount Thanksgiving Day game and Arizona would be favored this week. Instead they are now getting 4 points. I'll those extra points.

Injuries: Boldin and Westbrook will play. Eagles' injured offensive tackle Runyan and safety Dawkins are also expect to play.

Good Luck

NFL Football Sports Betting – Saturday Football Bet - NFL Playoffs Week 2

I had a nice win on the BCS Championship game on Thursday, and now it's time to win some money on the NFL. I have 1 game going today, and I expect to have another bet up tomorrow. Today's play is:

Baltimore Ravens/Tennessee Titans UNDER 34

This number is low, but it should be. This under is about as low as it can go where people will actually still bet the under. While I think this number should be even lower, Vegas never sets unders lower than this level because no one would bet the under. So even if Vegas thinks the real line should be 17, the over/under will still be set around 34. That is what's happening here today. There is good value on this under.

My NFL record is 48-31 YTD.

Good Luck today.

Sports Betting - College Football Bet - Florida Gators at Oklahoma Sooners

Well, I didn’t do so hot on the first weekend of the NFL playoffs. I was in Vegas watching the line move on the Atlanta game and knew that I would probably lose that bet before the game even started. There was just too much money flowing to the Cardinals for Atlanta to stay favored. In my mind, Atlanta still had the better team, but Arizona showed up that day and the gambling community knew that they would.

The same thing is happening with tonight’s college game. I bet Florida -3 over a week ago, but now the line has moved as all the big bettors are dropping large sums of money on Florida. Well, I liked them at -3 and I still like them at -6… I didn’t post when I originally bet them, so I think my “official pick” has to be at -6.

Florida Gators -6 (-110) over Oklahoma Sooners

I’ll be back with some NFL bets tomorrow.

My NFL record is now 48-31 YTD.

Good Luck.

NFL Football Sports Betting - Playoffs Week 1

Well, I’m headed out to Las Vegas, so I won’t be writing much until next week. After last weekend, it looks like my 2008 NFL season record is now 48-29 (including the 2 preseason bets). It’s been another great year!

The only favorite that I really like this weekend in Atlanta, and I’ve already bet them.

Atlanta Falcons -2 (-110) over Arizona Cardinals

Atlanta is coming out of the very tough NFC South while the Cards won the weakest division in the league.

Miami Dolphins +3 (-110) over Baltimore Ravens

Live homedog.

That’s it.

Good luck and have a Happy New Year.
