The Carolina Panthers, A Good Bet? - NFL Pre-Season Win Totals
2011/2012 Regular Season Win Total - Carolina Panthers Over 4½ (bet at Bodog)
The NFL South is a historically tight division. So tight that over the last 8 years, the team that finished last in the division went on to win the division the following year. The two years that this didn't happen, the last place team still had a winning record the following year. There is so much parity with these 4 teams that a few year over year changes can drastically change the make up of this division.
This brings us to last year's last place team, the Carolina Panthers.
Carolina doesn't have a great defense, but their problem last year was putting up points. With an improved offense they should have an opportunity to control the clock (and help their defense). After all the best defense is a good offense, and that's something the Panthers should have.
The Panthers have changed their offensive scheme. They shouldn't have a problem putting up points no matter who's at quarterback. Speaking of quarterbacks they drafted the #1 player in the NFL draft, Cam Newton, the Heisman Trophy winner from Auburn. He might not start the season at the helm, but it shouldn't be long before he takes over. Other first rounders on the Panther's offense include DeAngelo Williams, Jonathan Stewart, Jordan Gross, Jeff Otah, Jeremy Shockey and Greg Olsen. Don't forget that the Panthers still have Steve Smith at wide receiver too. That's a lot of talent.
Will they win the division? Maybe. Will they win more than 4 games? It sure looks like a good bet.

The Panther finished the 2010 season with a 2-14 record. They were the worst team in the league and because of that their 2011 preseason win total is set at 4½ games, the lowest in the league. Lucky for us, this total has a lot of value.
