Troops battle 10-foot marijuana plants

Canadian troops fighting Taliban militants in Afghanistan have stumbled across an unexpected and potent enemy -- almost impenetrable forests of 10-feet-high marijuana plants.

General Rick Hillier, chief of the Canadian defense staff, said on Thursday that Taliban fighters were using the forests as cover. In response, the crew of at least one armored car had camouflaged their vehicle with marijuana. - yahooooo

3 more bets for the weekend: NFL football Week 6

These lines are off, and while they may not all cash, I'm excepting 2 to hit. If I had to guess, I'd be the Bucs and the Cards. Of course, I hate to bet against my Jets, and everytime I do, I lose... Anyway, I have to bet where the value is. So add these 3 to this week's bets.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (over the Cincinnati Bengals)
15-October-2006 10:00 AM PST
Spread +5 for Game -110

Miami Dolphins (over the New York Jets)
15-October-2006 1:15 PM PST
Spread +2 for Game +104

Arizona Cardinals (over the Chicago Bears)
16-October-2006 5:30 PM PST
Spread +11.5 for Game -108

Other plays already posted:
Kansas City Chiefs +7 for Game -106 play of the week
New Orleans Saints +3.5 for Game -108
Oakland Raiders +9 for 1st Half +102 (1/2 unit)

NFL records YTD: 11-13-2, -2.37 units

I'm looking for a good week, as this has to turn around. I might pick up the full game for the Raiders, but haven't decided yet.

All bets are to win one unit unless otherwise posted.

Good Luck

Added Football bet NFL week 6: Philly @ New Orleans

New Orleans Saints
15-October-2006 10:00 AM PST
Spread +3.5 for Game -108

The Saints are playing at home. It's like magic in the Super Dome this year, and they are getting a field goal. Not to mention that the public loves the bet Philly this year. I'll take NO with the points. (It opened at +2.5) The billing: Donovan McNabb vs. Reggie Bush

Kansas City Chiefs Spread +7 for Game -106 play of the week (warning 1-5 so far this season)
Oakland Raiders Spread +9 for 1st Half +102 (1/2 unit)

Good Luck

Added football bet for the NFL week 6

Kansas City Chiefs
15-October-2006 1:15 PM PST
Spread +7 for Game -106

This line opened at +6.5 and has moved to 7. A full TD on a game with an over/under of 36.5 (I'm also thinking about the under)... The Chiefs have a good defense this year. I played them last week in fantasy, and I'm playing them again this week (over the San Diego Chargers!).

Already on :
Oakland Raiders Spread +9 for 1st Half +102 (1/2 unit)

Good Luck.

Yanks pitcher presumed dead in NYC crash: passport found on street

A small plane carrying New York Yankee Cory Lidle slammed into a 50-story skyscraper Wednesday, apparently killing the pitcher and a second person in a crash that rained flaming debris onto the sidewalks and briefly raised fears of another terrorist attack.

A law enforcement official in Washington said Lidle — an avid pilot who got his flying license during last year's offseason — was aboard the single-engine aircraft when it crashed into the 30th and 31st floors of the high-rise on Manhattan's Upper East Side. Mayor Michael Bloomberg said both people aboard were killed.

It was not immediately clear who was at the controls and who was the second person aboard. Law enforcement officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Lidle's passport was found on the street. - yahoo news

I live about a 5 minute walk from here...

How wierd is it that his passport was found on the street? I hope no other Yankees were on the plane. They haven't said yet who the passanger was but with George Steinbrenner offering his condolences to this wife and son, it's safe to assume that it wasn't a direct family member.

Away, I feel bad for Lidle and his family. As well as any other people and killed and their families as well.

NFL lines and bets, Google videos & Derrick Mason

The Broncos -15? Yeah, Oakland is bad, but the Broncos have only scored more than 15 once this year. I haven't run my lines yet this week, but I'll imagine that the Raiders have a little cushion here.

Quick bet (to win a 1/2 unit):
Oakland Raiders
15-October-2006 5:15 PM PST
Spread +9 for 1st Half +102

Google videos:
Did they really need to buy YouTube? I mean they already have some Vida Guerra videos and girls dancing in panties.

Raven WR Derrick Mason criticized his team’s lack of offensive production after Monday night’s loss to Denver - and he didn’t spare the coaching staff. “Our offense is not playing, plain and simple,” Mason said, according to the Baltimore Sun. “It’s very, very disappointing and whoever tries to sugarcoat it, they don’t need to be in this locker room – coaches included. If you try to sugarcoat it, you might as well be playing somewhere else and coaching somewhere else.”

Yeah, that's my fantasy wide reciever. I have him in 2 leagues.

Fantasy Football: Jerramy Stevens

Waiver Wire alert: Jerramy Stevens (TE) is probably available in your league.

Dropped in most leagues when he went down with a sprained knee, he's a sneaky add if you need help at the position.

Sportsline says:
Jerramy Stevens (knee) will play against the Rams in St. Louis in Week 6, for perhaps 30 or more plays. It will be his first action since the Super Bowl. "I'm just excited," Stevens said after buzzing around the practice field like a rookie trying to make the team.

Adbrite vs google Adsense: And the advertising winner is...

Google Adsense vs AdBrite. Adbrite vs. Adsense…

I just had to make this decision, and I went with Adbrite (after a few days of research and thought)

While you flip through most websites, it seems like adsense dominates the industry. But I believe Adbrite is the better service (especially for this site).

Adbrite doesn’t have all the rules that Adsense has. While I was approved to advertise using both, I felt the adsense (and their anti-gambling rules) could easily pull my site from their network.

Also, adbrite allows people to buy text links on a site. This is a service not even offered by adsense. While I don’t have any people signed up yet, this could be a decent source of income. As you can see now, adbrite also does the standard, google type, pay per click advertising when you have no one purchasing links. In 2 days, I’ve already made $0.87. Nothing great, but it’s a start… money for nothing.

Anyway, I really feel like google’s adsense is kind of elitist, while adbrite is a cooler company. Who wants to support the snooty when there’s another way?

So now you know what I think… CLICK HERE to check out adbrite and decide for yourself.

Fantasy football trouble

I have Jake Plummer, Javon Walker, and Derrick Mason (in 2 leagues) going. I'm currently in 1st across the board, but it looks like I'll get my first loss in both leagues tonight.

These are two defensive teams both with trouble on offense (it might have been a good under to bet). And after 10 minutes in the first, Plummer has -2 passing yards... I guess that's what I get for drafting 3 RBs and 4 WRs before my starting QB.

The terrible, terrible New York Jets

That 2nd half bet was garbage. I watched the first and figured that the Jets could not be any worse. Well I was wrong. It seemed like every call went the other way (even though the Jags had more penalty yards, don't believe the box score). I now believe that the Jags D is for real... too bad I was playing against them in my favorite fantasy football league.

Anyway, I went a whole 1-1-1 this week aside from the Jets play.

The Titans played the Colts close and lead most of the way. Of course, Peyton Manning's 4th quarter TD pass to Reggie Wayne was the game winner, but Tennessee covered by 17.

The Patriots and Dophins pushed for me with another TD pass in the 4th for the wrong team. Damn you Tom Brady.

The Browns, my play of the week, lost a freaking 1/2 point. This is the second time this year that I've lost my best bet by a 1/2 points... Phil Dawson missed a field goal in the first half and Cleveland couldn't get in the end zone... sucks.

1-2-1 so far this week. I might have a play tomorrow.

So long.

NJ Jets 2nd half bet

Add it:
New York Jets 8-October-2006 1:05 PM PST
Money Line for 2nd Half +132

Good Luck.

Pick of the Week

The Browns +7.5

The Browns got an offense and their first win last week over a terrible Oakland team. Carolina has also been beating up on lesser teams this year. I like getting a TD with Cleveland finally getting some confidence and going into a bye. It's my best bet of the week.

Good Luck.
