NFL Playoffs Week 1 Football Bets – Final Card

I won my first Boxing Bet posted on this sports betting blog last night! Yeah, it was a huge favorite, but a win is a win...

Anyway, Football Bets below. I can't believe I bet all four games this week, but I think I found a winner in each... Let's hope :O)

Washington +2 -115
Washington enters the postseason with five consecutive wins (and covers against the spread), more than any other playoff contender. AND they are healthy. Tampa Bay will be without wide out Michael Clayton, and should struggle on offense.
Washington will win this game, but there is no value left on the money line.

Washington Redskins/Tampa Bay Buccaneers Total Points OVER 36.5 -105
When I said Tampa will struggle on offense, I didn’t mean they would die. I like the over on this one on which looks to be a clear day in the 50’s down in Florida.

Jacksonville Jaguars +7.5 -108
New England is not that good. They have lost 6 of 9 games this season to teams with a winning record. They have come on strong the in December, but still managed to lose a game to Miami last week. That said, they are the defending Super Bowl champs, playing a southern team @ 8pm in New England... But I don't see them covering.

Carolina Panthers (+2.5) +105
While these teams are evenly matched, Carolina has the better quarterback in Jake Delhomme and wins the injury lottery over the Big Blue who has major concerns at linebacker. New York will also be fielding Jeremy Shockey, who’s about 75% and currently not much of a risk.

Bet posted earlier:
Pittsburgh Steelers -3 +102 NFL Free Pick of the Week

Record on posted football bets: 27-14-1, +12.12 units

If you like my site, check out the The Sedge Court Journal who will be montoring my plays this week.

Good Luck.

Boxing Bets - This Weekend's Fights

Well, I haven't bet boxing in a while, but I feel like getting back into it. I used to bet easy favorites A LOT to pad my parley bets ( years ago). I have since done the math and given up betting parleys completely…

Anyway, I’m on two huge favorites this week, in an effort to ease back into boxing... I'm also on ticketmaster right now thinking about buying tickets to Don King Presents: Zab Judah vs Baldomir : Mormeck vs Bell.

This weekend’s boxing bets:
1/6/06: Joel Jair Julio vs Robert Kamya Welterweight
Joel Jair Julio -700
Joel Julio is an up and coming star (25-0, 22 KOs). Robert “The Doctor” Kamya (15-5, five KOs)owns a title, but is still considered no match for Julio.
“Quite simply, Julio is the most intriguing and explosive prospect in boxing,” said ESPN.com’s Dan Rafael. “The Colombian is a massive puncher who oozes charisma in the ring. His power is scary. We have said it before and we will say it again: If Julio can take a shot, he will be a world champion. Expect 2006 to be a big year for him. The bandwagon will pull away soon, but there is still time to hop on board.”
1/7/06: Jean Marc Mormeck vs O' Neil Bell WBC/WBA/IBF Cruiserweight Title
Jean Marc Mormeck -450
Both are Don King fighters, and I think he wants Mormeck to secure the belts.

All bets are to risk 1 unit (which is a percentage of my betting bankroll)… so I’m betting 2 units to win peanuts… peanuts can add up though…

Good Luck.

NFL Playoffs Week 1 Football Bets

Pittsburgh Steelers -3 +102 NFL Free Pick of the Week
I mentioned this game in yesterday's post when the line was -2.5. I guess I should have bet it then... Anyway, there is still value in this line. (can you believe the Bengals opened as the favorite?) Anyway, Cinny has been playing some terrible ball lately while Pittsburgh has been coming on strong. The Steelers beat Cinninati earlier in the year and then lost one by a touchdown at home to them during their three game slump. This Steeler team turned it around since then to win their last 4 (2 of which were against teams over .500). The Bengals on the other hand ended their season with losses to Buffalo (Yes, Buffalo) and Kansas City... Go with the better playing team on this one and bet Willie Parker and Jerome Bettis on the road.

I'll be back with more later, and probably a few fights this weekend too.

Good Luck.

No Rose Bowl Bet?

Yeah, that's right... I would have loved to pick a side on this game, but sometimes there is just no edge. 2 great teams, either of them could win, decent over/under number, equals no play.

I'm no action junkie, and I pass on many a game. This is one of them.

Okay, time to get drunk and enjoy the game :O)

Good Luck all

The end of the NFL regular season

Thanks Anthony! I’m not afraid of curses, and I hope I don’t let you down :O)

Moving on:
After a wild new year’s, it’s time to calm down and focus again on the NFL for the playoffs. With the number of weekly games greatly reduced this time of year, my number of plays will decrease as well. That said, as far as this coming weekend goes, the Jags and the Steelers both look interesting. No bets yet, but I’ll post them here when they’re placed.

Anyway, I finished up 2-2 last weekend for a loss of 0.13 units, bringing this blog’s record to 27-14-1 for the year 2005. My NFL Play of the Week record currently stands at 11-6 for 2005 (although I did go 3-1 in last year's playoffs, so maybe its 14-7 for the entire year).

Be back soon.

Good Luck

Happy New Year, you sports betting people

Well, it's a new year, and even an online sports bettor has to take a break from sports betting every once in a while. After a few great days in NYC, I'm keeping the party alive. I'm currently on my way to Atlantic City and looking forward to a few more days of rest and relaxation. I know that there is some great college football today, but due to busy holiday schedule, I haven't gotten a chance to handicap a single game... But thats okay by me, because the NFL Playoffs are here!

The first few weeks of the playoffs are some of the best games to bet, and you can be sure, I will be... and I'll be posting all my games here.

I ended up 2-2 for the NFL week 17. (so far 27-14-1 YTD) While it wasn't a strong finish, it was one I can live with. Afterall, week 17 is one of the hardest to predict with so many teams resting players or just giving up... Weeks 1 and 2 are probably the worst, than week 17.

Anyway, got to go. Have a great and lucky day.
