Vacation...

Well, the Super Bowl is over, and I’m headed to the Bahamas for a nice long weekend. I have a flight out of Newark before dawn, so you can expect this sports bettor to be drinking margaritas on the beach by this time tomorrow. Anyway, it was a good season, and I’ll be back with a recap of my plays (units won) and hopefully some insightful handicapping tips next week. Until then, it’s fun in the sun.

Vote: Did the officials steal the Super Bowl?

ESPN poll on the homepage.

Some of the larger percentages...

3) Did the officiating in Sunday's game unfairly favor one team?

16.8% The right calls were made
4.8% Unfairly favored the Seahawks

5) Do you think the official made the right call on Darrell Jackson's offensive pass interference in the endzone, negating a Seattle touchdown in the first quarter?
73.0% No
21.0% Yes
5.9% I'm not sure

7) Do you think the official made the right call on Sean Locklear's holding penalty in the fourth quarter, negating an 18-yard reception to the one-yard line by Jerramy Stevens?

15.6% Yes
10.7% I'm not sure

Kevin Mench of FOX Sports writes:
I've never felt so empty being right. I feel dirty. I wish I'd been wrong. The Steelers did not deserve to win this game. They were not the better team. O'Connor was right. Seattle was the better team.
I was on the Hawks, but shit happens. Congrats to all the Steelers fans. Even though I lost, I'm happy for the city and the Bus :O)

Super Bowl Bets - The day after...

My head hurts... got so drunk yesterday, I can't remember most of the second half...

Anyway on to a recap of posted plays:

Super Bowl Over/Under Bet:
Seattle Seahawks/Pittsburgh Steelers
Total Points UNDER 47½ -105 for Game Super Bowl Play of the Week - WIN

Super Bowl Side Bets:
Seattle Seahawks +3.5 +102 (bet early) - Loss
Seattle Seahawks Money Line +168 (bet early) - Loss

Super Bowl Prop Bet:
Total pass receiving yards made by Bobby Engram
Over 34½ receiving yrds -120 - WIN
Total Rushing attempts by Willie Parker
Under 16.5 rushing attempts -127 - WIN

3-2 for the day, +1.43 units ("to win" units)

Record on all posted football bets for the season: 38-23-1, + 14.88 units

It's important to note that during the season I changed from placing bets from "to risk" units to "to win" units. This would have an impact on the number of units won, especially this week. Also, going forward, all my plays will be placed "to win" amounts.
