Super Bowl XL Total Over/Under Bet and more

Seattle Seahawks/Pittsburgh Steelers
Total Points UNDER 47½ -105 for Game Super Bowl Play of the Week

As Chad Johnson said this morning on Howard Stern, "47! No way."

Seriously though, these are two teams with great defenses. Seattle might have the number 1 offense in the league, but we’ve been hearing all week on how good Pittsburgh’s defense is, so I’m not going to repeat it here. On the other side of the ball, the Seahawks have a fast and aggressive D that is capable of playing well against elite teams. With the Bus running low on gas and Willie Parker’s habit of fumbling the ball, expect this to be low scoring affair…

Additionally, the line is skewed toward the over. The public loves to bet the over. This article might narrate it the best:

The consensus over/under number is 47. Some places, including the Hilton and Stardust, opened 48. LVSC’s send-out number on the total was 49.

Based on a pure handicapping number, Seba admitted the over/under number should be 45 or 46. However, LVSC anticipates the public to bet the over, especially during the final hours leading up to the game.
