Sportsbook.com posts the widest array of odds for the 2006 baseball season

World Series, Pennant Races, Home Run Derby and dozens of other props offered as MLB set to kick off another season
NEW YORK, NY, March 28 - The Boys of Summer are ready to swing into action this weekend as Major League Baseball kicks off another season. Sportsbook.com is offering online bettors the widest variety of odds and betting propositions ever and is expecting a record volume of betting throughout the next seven months.

"If baseball is as American as apple pie, betting is the vanilla ice cream on top. Everybody bets and everybody bets on baseball," said Alex Czajkowski, Sportsbook.com. "We're offering bettors the chance to wager on everything from daily games to who will win the World Series and home run derby to how many RBIs, steals, walks and hits the leader in each of those categories will have at the end of the season. We're also offering fans the chance to wager on individual player performances throughout the season."

Online betting has become hugely popular in the last five years. According to Christiansen Capital Advisors, the online gambling industry will generate over $10 billion in revenues this year and a significant portion of that will come from baseball related bets.

"As the world's largest online sportsbook and casino, Sportsbook.com is committed to providing the greatest variety of betting options to an ever growing fan base," added Czajkowski.
If the odds makers are on the money this year, baseball fans could see a New York Subway Series as both the Yankees and Mets sit at the top of the odds table. The Yankees are 7-2 favorites to break out of their slump and capture their first championship in six years, while the Mets are a 5-1 bet. The Chicago White Sox, last year's champions are a 9-2 bet, followed by the St. Louis Cardinals at 7-1, Boston Red Sox at 10-1 and the Chicago Cubs at 12-1.

Alex Rodriguez is a slight favorite at 6-1 to win the home run derby. If he does win it he'll need 49 or more homers according to the odds makers. Sportsbook.com has set the over/under for league leading home runs at 48.5. Barry Bonds, the disgraced San Francisco Giants star who is trying to break Hank Aarons' all time home run record, is a 23-1 bet to lead the league in that category.
