Sunday Baseball Bet
St. Louis CardinalsThe Cardinals are playing at home vs the Astros today. So far both games in this 3 game series have been close. The Cards lost the first game when their closer blew it in the 9th. They then won yesterday off a single in the bottom of the 9th. I don't expect today's game to be as close.
Pitching for Houston is Brandon Backe with a lifetime ERA of 5.64 vs the Cards. Starting for the Cardinals is Kyle Lohse sporting a 3.95 lifetime ERA against the 'Stros.
The real reason I like this game is the season that both these pitchers are having. Lohse has had a great start and doesn't should signs of slowing down. He has the best ERA on the Cardinals (who are 9-5 at home). Backe has started the year with a 4.15 ERA and a 1-2 record playing for a team that's 6-8 on the road.
Good Luck today.

Betting on the NFL Draft & Baseball
Who will the New York Jets take with the #6 pick in the NFL Draft?Darren McFadden 5/2 (at BoDog)
Darren McFadden says he loves New York and thinks the Jets will take him with the sixth-overall pick. "I feel like if I'm still up there when they're picking, they're probably going to try to take me. Just being around them, getting that vibe from them. Talking to them, I get that vibe." With McFadden being so vocal, I'm not sure any other team will take him before the Jets. Also those teams have bigger needs to address. I think McFadden will be a Jet.
Los Angeles Dodgers
Brad Penny (R) -175 (also at BoDog)
I blame the long rain delay for the Yanks lost the other day. Tonight I'm looking to get some money back on a big favorite. How can you not like Penny at home on a Saturday Night? He's facing the Colorado Rockies and pitcher Mark Redman (L) who has a lifetime ERA of 7.20 vs the Dodgers.
Good Luck.

2009 Baseball Betting
I still haven't started betting baseball yet, and I'm sure that I've missed some great opportunities.I'm not playing fantasy baseball this year for the first time in years, and when you don't have to follow almost every team daily, it's really easy to get out of touch with the season. Sure I know the Yanks inside and out, but almost nothing about other teams since last year.
Quick thoughts on this season:
I think that the Tigers will go on a few nice winning streaks this year and make the playoffs.
The Nationals will sucks as always. Betting against them often could be costly (because of the odds), but there should be some good spots to fade this team.
The Yanks are not a sub-500 team. They will start winning regularly soon.
My lunch just got here, so I'm done writing for now... I'll probably start watching the baseball odds tonight, and make an effort to try to get back in the game and win some money soon.
Good Luck.

Baseball Betting and March Madness
Watching the Yankees game, and they are getting smoked 5-1 by the Devil Rays in the 6th thanks to Andy Pettitte. It looks like they are going to start the season out 2-3. If I was even thinking about betting bases yet, I would have bet against the Yanks this game. Pettitte had problems in Spring Training, and I'm really not excepting a lot from him this year. That and the Rays were getting +195 (almost 2-1) today... I need to start checking the baseball lines daily now...Following March Madness? Who isn't? The Final Four teams meet up tonight. Memphis is 2 point favorites over UCLA with an over/under of 134. UNC is 4 point favorites over Kansas with an over/under of 159. All odds are from BoDog (link on right).
At first look, I'm surprised that Memphis is a favorite. Don't get me wrong, I have them winning the whole thing in most of my brackets, but I've heard a lot of chatter this week about a North Carolina vs UCLA final. I've heard so much that I thought the country would be leaning toward UCLA. With Memphis still favored, it seems like the betting community still likes Memphis, and I'm glad. If I was to bet any games tonight, it would be on Memphis... That said, I have too much going on to even watch the game, so I probably won't bet it... I wish these games were earlier.
Top of the 7th and the Yanks are still down, and I'm out.
Good Luck

Super Bowl Bets on Super Bowl Sunday
As you can see from my previous post, I'm taking the Pats to win staight up. The line on this has actually drop at BoDog from where I bet it. It's now -420.
Anyway, a lot of people have asked me my stance on the over/under in this game (currently at 54½). While I haven't bet the total (and probably still won't), I am leaning toward the under but don't see much value in it. I simply don't think it's worth a bet.
Aside from that, I still really like the New England Money Line and if forced to pick a spread bet, I would lean toward the Pats less the points this Super Bowl. People that say that the Patriots can only win the big game by 3 points, but that's garbage. Every game is different.
Again I'm listing the Super Bowl Prop Bets that I'm on. All can be found at BoDog
- Ahmad Bradshaw - Total Receiving Yards UNDER 11½ -130
- Will Laurence Maroney score a touchdown? YES -210
- Plaxico Burress - Longest Reception OVER 23½ -115
- Will the entire Fox pre-game team pick the Patriots to win the Super Bowl? NO +130
- How Many Times will Joe Buck mention Peyton Manning's name during the Broadcast? (Joe Buck must mention full name in order to count.) UNDER 5½ -120
Good Luck Football Fans. I'm rooting for a good game, and of course to win most (if not all) of my Super Bowl Bets.

Super Bowl XLII Prop Bets
Will Laurence Maroney score a touchdown? YES -210
He rushed for 2 TDs the last time he's faced the Giants. Belichick has been using him well in the redzone, and Maroney has scored a TD in the Pats last 5 games. The line is a little steep, but I really like this play.
Plaxico Burress - Longest Reception OVER 23½ -115
Burress is the Giants only deep threat, and I expect them to target him deep at least a few times in the Super Bowl. Hopefully he'll come down with 1.
I'm already on:
Ahmad Bradshaw - Total Receiving Yards UNDER 11½ -130
All my Super Bowl Prop Bets are from BoDog (Link). I'll be back with more props and bets this week.
Good Luck.

Super Bowl XLII Lines & Bets
The Giants have rolled through the playoffs, and have been monsters against the spread in the 2nd half. The Pats have been the exact opposite, going 1-7 against the spread in their last 8. In spite of this (and my best friend swearing that the Pats will only win by 3), I'm still leaning toward New England here.
First off, there is no way the Pats lose this game. They are probably the best football team in history. Secondly the Giants defense has been winning their games, but they don't match up well with the Pats offense. You can point to the end of season game where NY only lost by 3, but the Gmen did get a garbage TD at the end of the game...
Anyway, I did make my first Super Bowl Prop Bet at BoDog (Link).

Early Super Bowl betting drifts toward Giants - B Sun
The game within the game for the Super Bowl has already begun. That would be the betting interest that the NFL championship generates.
Because of the twin factors of the Patriots going for a perfect season and the inclusion of the Giants, a team from the largest metro market in the country, the amount of money expected to be bet on the game will certainly set a record of more than $100 million in Nevada alone (the record is $94.5 million for Steelers-Seahawks in January 2006). And that's the tip of the betting iceberg. Counting Internet, street wagers and private pools, the Super Bowl will generate up to a couple of billion dollars in gross wagering.
Las Vegas Sports Consultants, the traditional oddsmakers for Nevada casinos, started the line for the Patriots-Giants Super Bowl at New England favored by 14 points, with and over/under (combined points scored by both teams) of 55.
We're still a long way from the Supe with the bulk of the public money yet to flex its muscle but the early cash has been overwhelmingly on the Giants. A recent look at the Vegas odds showed the major casinos out there lowering the spread to 12, 12 1/2 points. One big-time online site had the line all the way down to 11 1/2. The over-under also has been bet down to 53 1/2, 54.
Some of that movement is an infatuation with the surprising Giants. But another part is that the Patriots -- who were just as perfect for pro-New England bettors as they were in the standings covering double-digit spreads through the first half of the season -- are 2-8 ATS since early November. The Giants, on the other hand, have covered in seven of their last eight games (13-6 ATS overall).

NFL Sports Betting - Playoff Week 3 Bets
The Pats blow out the injured Charges. There is not doubt that they get to the Super Bowl and they will seal that deal with a plus 2 TD win.
New York Giants +8 -105
The Giants make it a close game against the Packers. I don't see NY winning, but they surprised last week and can again in this spot.
San Diego Chargers/New England Patriots UNDER 47½ -110
New York Giants/Green Bay Packers UNDER 41 -110
Fading the publiv with both unders.

NFL Sports Betting - Playoff Week 2
Dallas Cowboys -7 -110 (2 units)The Cowboys have already beaten the Giants by more than 7 TWICE this year. The Giants have had a good last couple of weeks, but with Dallas getting 2 weeks to prepare, this game shouldn't be close. New York is also 1-5 against team with a 500 record or better.
7 Points Teaser (1 unit)
Select #1 : Green Bay Packers -2
Select #2 : Indianapolis Colts -2
Both these teams should win this week.
So far I'm 0-1-1 for the playoffs

NFL Sports Betting - Playoff Week 1 - Sunday
Today:
Tampa Bay Buccaneers -3 +100
Instead of the Giants resting injured players last week, they went all out to try to beat the Pats. Bad move... Even though the Giants have to win a playoff game sometime, the value is with the Bucs.
That's it for today,
Good Luck.

NFL Sports Betting - Week 17 Football Bets
New England Patriots -12½ -105Rumor has it that the Giants will be resting players in the 2nd. The Pats historically let their starters play. The Pats are also going for a record tonight, and I expect them to get it.
Atlanta Falcons -107
Believe it or not, the Falcons have value in this game. Seattle is locked into the 3rd seed, so like the Giants, they have nothing to play for and should be resting players.
Kansas City Chiefs +6½ -110
No one should be getting 6+ pts vs the Jets.
Miami Dolphins +2½ -110
Miami at home vs a team they can beat. They should be motivated and playing for their jobs.
Cincinnati Bengals/Miami Dolphins UNDER 45 -110
The once potent Cincinnati offense has failed to score 20 points in four consecutive games.
If you are looking for a good sportsbook and/or poker room and casino, check out Bodog (Link).

NFL Sports Betting - Week 16 Football Bets - Added Bets & Saturday Night Game
Dallas Cowboys/Carolina Panthers OVER 42½ -110
Dallas has the 2nd best offense in the league, and they will bounce back fine after last weeks disaster. While Carolina has one of the worst offenses in the league and a rookie QB at the helm (which has helped to pull down this line), Dallas will be without it's leading tackler and big play stopper, safety Roy Williams, due to suspension. Julius Peppers should also out for the Panthers D.
Houston Texans/Indianapolis Colts OVER 45 -110
This line is low, and the Colts are starting there starters. The Texans are out of the playoffs, but can still finish above 500.
My last post has 3 plays I'm already on, and I might have some more tomorrow.

NFL Sports Betting - Week 16 Football Bets
The holiday season is crazy. I think I've drank more beer, wine and shots in the last week than I did in the whole month of November. While I've gotten used to rolling into work at noon with a hangover, I haven't been able to even think football until today.Updated 2007 Football Record:
NFL sides: 34-29-3, +1.94 units
NFL totals: 11-12-1, -1.05 units
College: 12-12-1, +1.14 units
Philadelphia Eagles +3 +100 (2 units)
I love this bet! Every sharp player I know is on Philly, yet the Public is still backing New Orleans.
Quick 1 unit plays:
San Francisco 49ers +6 -110
Oakland Raiders +13½ -110
Both teams are so out of favor that they have a few points of value in the line.

NFL Sports Betting - Week 15 Football Bets
Another ugly week last week, leaving me up a little less than half a unit in football so far this year. I did cash the boxing ticket though...Updated 2007 Football Record:
NFL sides: 29-26-3, +0.34 units
NFL totals: 11-12-1, -1.05 units
College: 12-12-1, +1.14 units
The favorites in the NFL have been running real well the last couple of weeks. The public has been real hot, and this has left a lot of opportunity to bet some juicy dogs this week.
That said, get ready to hold your nose this week. I'm betting more games than usual and hitting a few games hard. I usually don't like this much action on a single weekend, but I have to bet opportunities as they present themselves.
San Francisco 49ers +9-110 (2 units)
This big home dog is getting no love.
Atlanta Falcons +13.5 -110 (2 units)
The Falcons move on this week without Vick who is serving 23 months. Their season is done, but they'll still try to spoil this division rival. I'll take 2 TDs against the defensively oriented Bucs.
Other dogs I'm on this week (all to win 1 unit):
Miami Dolphins +4½ -115
St Louis Rams +10 -110
Carolina Panthers +8 -110
Kansas City Chiefs +4 -110
Oakland Raiders +11 -110
Washington Redskins +5 -105
All that action and I haven't even looked at the totals yet... I think I might be passing on those this week.
Being that it's the holidays and my schedule this week is ridiculous, I'm not sure if I'll post again before Sunday. That said, this Sunday is the anniversary of the Boston Tea Party, and those crazy Ron Paul supporters are putting together another "money bomb" for him on Sunday. Ron Paul is the most pro online gambling presidental candidate in the 2008 race, and that's why I'm writing about him. You can check out this fund raiser at Tea Party 07.

NFL Sports Betting - Week 14 Football Bets - Sunday's Games - Full Card
I'm jumping on this bandwagon. The world like TB to cover this week and for good reason. There is a lot of value in this line as Tampa is the better team on both sides of the ball.
Kansas City Chiefs/Denver Broncos UNDER 37 -110
This game goes fast with both teams running the ball, but with key offensive injuries, the game stays under.
Dallas Cowboys/Detroit Lions UNDER 50½ -110
just too many points in this total.
For week 14, I'm already on:
New England Patriots -10 -110
Arizona Cardinals +7 -110
That's all for now.
Good Luck.
